Image Quality Assessment for Digital Volume Correlation-Based Optical Coherence Elastography

Optical coherence elastography (OCE) based on digital volume correlation (DVC) has the advantages of full 3D displacements and strain tensor quantification. However, measurement results are often unreliable due to poor quality optical tomography (OCT) speckle patterns. This paper proposes an image evaluation index OCT-DVC (CMGG, combined mean attenuation intensity, breadth dispersion gray level distribution), which comprehensively considers OCT signals’ distribution images. Virtual deformation experiments phantoms by numerically applied pork meat were conducted. The bias errors have a corresponding good relationship with CMGG, demonstrates effectiveness proposed CMGG. Based this index, lot time may be saved pretest during DVC-OCE measurement. CMGG also guides development OCE system design, adjustment new algorithms.
